The Beginning of the Brewery

Mastry’s Brewing Co. started off as an inspired vision led and fueled by a passion to build.

In January of 2015, the Mastry’s operation began as a nano-brewery within a family member’s Italian restaurant in the Tyrone area of St. Pete. After over a year, the next step was searching for the perfect location for the brick and mortar microbrewery.

In August of 2016, Mastry’s Brewing Co. opened its doors as the first microbrewery in St. Pete Beach!

Mastry’s is an iconic name, and the family has deep roots in the area, including a well-known bait and tackle shop, a popular neighborhood bar located in downtown St. Pete, and an engine and marine center.

The Mastry’s Family Name

Our owner and CEO, Matthew Dahm, was inspired to open the brewery by both his love of great beer and as a tribute to his family – especially his grandmother, Juliet Mastry.

Matthew, being a third generation Mastry, decided to name the brewery after his grandmother’s family to pay homage and continue to contribute to the family’s renown throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Remembering Juliet

Out of a family of 10 children, Juliet was the only sibling to leave her home in St Petersburg, when she decided to pursue her dream as a professional stage singer in New York City,  and later a restaurateur of the original Mastry’s Restaurant in NYC.

Juliet returned home to St. Petersburg in 1976, and lived to the ripe age of 96 before passing away in December 2017.
